Digital Denture Technology

Get the Smile of Your Dreams With Digital Dentures

Traditional denture manufacturing is changing as the industry adopts digital technology. Digital dentures offer strong advantages in accuracy, strength, occlusion and aesthetics when compared with many conventional methods.

What Are Digital Dentures?

Digital dentures use computer-aided design, also called CAD, to plan the denture. The denture is then milled or 3D printed using advanced equipment, depending on the patient’s needs and treatment plan.

Our clinic mainly uses milled dentures. A solid block of manufactured resin, called PMMA, is precisely cut by our on-site milling machine. These materials can be much stronger than traditional denture acrylics, while the digital process helps improve accuracy.

Benefits of Digital Dentures

Comfort

Digital dentures can be made thinner because of the strength of the milled material. Patients often need fewer adjustments after fitting.

Strength

Pre-manufactured discs provide higher flexural strength and can withstand daily wear and chewing pressure.

Fast Turnaround

The process can require fewer appointments than a conventional denture and may allow a faster replacement.

Advantages of Digital Dentures

Predictability and Accuracy

Digital records can reduce errors caused by plaster shrinkage, acrylic warping and manual tooth placement. Scanning the impression into the software helps create a precise design and fit.

Quick and Easy Replacements

We keep the digital file on record. If a denture is lost or damaged, a replacement may be created without repeating every initial appointment. A spare set may also be produced at a reduced fee.

Digital Partial Denture Frameworks

Digital dentures are not limited to full denture wearers. Partial frameworks can be milled from high-performance polymers such as Acetal and Ultaire AKP. These materials can provide a light, metal-free alternative to acrylic or cobalt chrome frameworks.

Benefits of Digital Partial Frameworks

  • Metal-free with no metallic taste
  • High strength and good stability
  • Precision fit using CAD and CAM technology
  • Moisture resistance that helps reduce stains and odours
  • Lighter than many traditional metal partial dentures
  • Thin and comfortable design
  • Cost-effective compared with some metal options
  • High patient satisfaction
